With family who were in WWII, and as a fan of time travel books I fell in love immediately. It was a different take on the typical time travel book. I loved how the main female lead Mel was a feisty, independent woman. Going from modern times to the 1940's must have been interesting to say the least. However having the pressure if knowing this could change your own history, and knowing you will finally get to meet your own grandfather but can't say anything? Ack.... Pressure anyone? Oodles of intrigue, danger, Suspense and of course time travel stuff. I would say even if youre a fan of history in general you will love this book. I love good time travel and Mel is a wonderfully kickass character. It lacks 5stars because the editing was excruciatingly AWFUL. This took away enjoyment from reading but not the story itself.
I couldn't put this book down. Great story, lots of suspense, time travel, romance. Quite a few lose ends, but I am assuming there will be a sequel. I am looking forward to reading more by this author!
Jack sounds like someone I'd like to meet, old or young!
I found the story interesting, but I am skeptical about the young lady's abilities. However, I do recommend the book. I will check out some of her other stories.
I really wanted to like this book and it was interesting for about 1/3 of the way through. Then editing problems got in the way. Repeats, changing page fonts, odd look to it. I tried skimming past that because I wanted to know what happened next but decided to just delete the whole thing on my kindle. Maybe if I come across a hardback copy I will be able to finish it because I would like to know what happened. I am disappointed because I wasted so much time.
What's not to love? A lot of adventure, a fair bit of romance, and a little sci-fi. A very enjoyable read that would appeal across a wide age range. I can't wait to read more from this author. )
I enjoyed this book so much. The author did her research well, as her description of the B 17 was so detailed that I could almost feel the bounce and smell the oil and gas. I love time travel stories and I love the WWII era, so this was a perfect match. The characters were believable and likeable and shareable depending on which applied. A real must read!
Good book, but Audible recording is TERRIBLE! The reader does not maintain consistency, cannot seem to "voice" characters consistently, and her attempts at English accents are laughable. There is also a background hum/white noise that is not typical to Audible recordings. Overall, it is just beyond ridiculously awful. I spend a lot of time on the road for work and listen to a lot of Audible books. This is the worst recording I have come across. About 1/3 of the way through I couldn't handle it anymore, so I ended up reading the rest of it myself so I could enjoy the story! I definitely recommend READING (not listening to) the book -- it is a great take on time travel!
